Defense supply and standardization resources

Defense Logistics Agency

DLA supports defense supply and technical standardization resources, including ASSIST and qualification information. A document record, qualification listing and contract acceptance serve separate purposes.

Read the source in its own scope

Defense Logistics Agency is represented in this collection through the specific publications listed below. Begin with the product, activity and responsible party identified by the source. A reference to an agency does not establish that every product in an industry follows the same pathway. Scope, definitions, exceptions and the status of an adopted technical document can change the conclusion.

Connect the publication to the product decision

Use the original publication to establish the requirement, then connect it to the actual model, configuration, process or transaction. Keep source dates separate from effective and compliance dates. Where several agencies are relevant, preserve a distinct conclusion for each framework. A test report, registration, approval, certification and voluntary program claim should be assessed for the precise object and conditions they cover.

Defense Qualified Products and Manufacturers

Qualified Products Database; QPL and QML records

The Qualified Products Database supports verification of products and manufacturers qualified under specified defense standardization documents. A procurement review must connect the listing to the exact specification, product designation and manufacturing source. Qualification and delivery acceptance remain distinct: a listed product still needs to meet the requirements of the individual contract and supplied configuration.

Defense Technical Documents in ASSIST

ASSIST and ASSIST Quick Search

ASSIST provides access to defense and federal standardization documents and related status information. It helps a supplier identify specifications, standards, revisions, amendments and notices. The database is a document-control resource. Finding a document in ASSIST does not make it applicable to every government purchase, and downloading the latest revision does not amend an existing contract.
