National Committee for Quality Management
Impartiality
Purpose
Impartiality requires attention to interests that could influence professional judgment. It is supported by responsibilities and records, not by a claim of independence alone.
Responsibility
The responsible institutional function identifies risks to impartiality in appointments, technical work, review and publication.
Commercial relationships
Membership fees, sponsorship, donations and purchases of services do not purchase technical conclusions, publication acceptance or committee authority.
Risk review
Relevant financial, commercial, employment and institutional relationships are considered in the context of the activity.
Review arrangements
People with an unmanaged conflict do not determine the affected matter. Reassignment, additional review or recusal is recorded.
Oversight
Material concerns are examined through the appropriate procedure. The response addresses the risk and the responsibility for any corrective action.
Raise a concern
Submit a complaint identifying the activity, relationship and basis of the concern. Private information follows the confidentiality arrangements.
Policy application
This policy is read with conflicts of interest, conduct and the procedure for the relevant activity.
