Conflicts of Interest

Who discloses

People accepting institutional, technical, review or editorial responsibilities disclose interests relevant to that work.

Relevant relationships

Disclosures cover relationships that could affect, or reasonably be perceived to affect, judgment in the particular matter. Not every professional affiliation creates a disqualifying conflict.

When to disclose

Disclose before accepting the work and when a material relationship changes. Do not wait until after the affected decision.

Review and management

The responsible function considers relevance and available safeguards. Measures may include restricted access, additional review, reassignment or recusal.

Records and privacy

Disclosures and management decisions are recorded with appropriate access restrictions. Public disclosure is limited to what is necessary for the activity.

Omissions

A material omission may require review of the role, decision or publication. Corrective measures follow the applicable authority and review procedure.

Submit a disclosure

Contact secretariat@ncqm.org to arrange the appropriate confidential route. Do not send unnecessary sensitive details in an initial enquiry.
