Request a Correction
Submission requirements and process
What to report
Use this route for factual, bibliographic, technical or accessibility errors in published material. Service complaints and appeals have separate procedures.
Identify the material
Provide the page address or publication designation, edition and affected section. The link that brought you here is retained where available.
Describe the issue
Quote only the passage needed to identify the problem. Explain the proposed correction and why the existing text is inaccurate.
Supporting information
Provide the original source or other relevant evidence. Do not include private information that is unnecessary to examine the issue.
Contact and confidentiality
Provide a contact if you want a response. Identify information that requires confidential handling before submitting it.
Review
The responsible function examines the issue and records the disposition. Material corrections identify what changed and when.
Receipt
Selecting Submit correction request produces a reference. Receipt confirms transmission and does not establish that the reported error has been accepted.
Follow-up
Use the request reference to provide additional information through the secure request route.
Other concerns
For conduct or service matters, make a complaint. For an eligible decision challenge, read the appeals procedure.
A correction that can be checked
Identify the page or publication, the affected passage and the nature of the error. Supply the source and precise location supporting the proposed correction. If the issue concerns a changed law or standard, distinguish an original error from a subsequent source change.
For example, provide both the cited edition and the adopting provision when questioning a version statement. State whether the change affects a title, date, scope, technical explanation or conclusion.
The correction record
The receipt preserves the request and its reference. Further evidence or clarification may be requested. An editorial response records the finding and any resulting action. A material correction should be connected to the publication and its revised version or change note.
A difference in interpretation should be explained through the underlying evidence. Concerns about conduct or handling can be raised separately through Complaints.
International standards research
Corrections to standards research
Identify the Center page, affected statement and official source supporting the correction. Publication status, adopted edition, scope and source attribution can be reviewed as distinct factual questions.
